USC to Host Event Marking the 80th Anniversary of Marian Anderson’s Historic Lincoln Memorial Concert

Held in honor of the 80th anniversary of Marian Anderson’s historic concert on the steps of the Lincoln Memorial – often called “The Concert that Sparked the Civil Rights Movement” – and the generations of women who have and continue to fight for humanity, equity, and justice, the evening will feature an intimate conversation and performance exploring the legacy of music’s relationship to activism and social change.

Jemel Hill and LZ Granderson Speak at USC

The USC Annenberg School of Communication and Journalism hosted a conversation event called “Waking Up with Jemel Hill and LZ Granderson,” where the two notable sports journalists talked about their careers and current news topics. The conversation was moderated by USC professor Miki Turner, who asked their opinions on their recent work, their views on social media, and how they reinvent themselves as journalists. USC Fights With Tenacity Against Bay Area Foes

The will of the Women of Troy was tested last weekend as NorCal schools visited. USC bested the California Golden Bears 86-76, but lost to the #7 Stanford Cardinal 69-67 in the final minutes of their game. Junior guard Minyon Moore led the Women of Troy with 18 points, 10 rebounds, eight assists and four steals. Junior guard Dijonai Carrington and senior forward Alanna Smith scored double-doubles for the Cardinal: Smith with 23 points and 12 rebounds and Carrington with 18 points and 12 rebounds. Against the Cardinal, USC struck with a defensive energy that held Stanford to 11 points.
