MAY 18 WLAC Open House Highlights $0 Tuition, Prep for $60K+ Careers & New Facilities Management Program

A $0 Tuition program for incoming freshmen regardless of household income, career programs preparing students to make $60,000 or more annually on average, and degree programs tailored for working adults will be among the information sessions held at the free Open House at West Los Angeles College (West) on Saturday, May 18 from 9:30am to 1:00pm.

California State Parks Now Accepting Applications for Ranger and Lifeguard Cadet Academy

California State Parks invites outdoor enthusiasts to “Live the Parks Life” by becoming a ranger or lifeguard in the nation’s largest state park system. The 2019 State Park Peace Officer (SPPO) Cadet application period is now open. Career opportunities are available throughout the entire state. All applicants must submit an application by Monday, June 3, 2019, to be considered for the 2020 SPPO Cadet Academy.

MISSISSIPPI FLOODS AFFECT BLACK FARMERS

Since March 2019, farmers in Mississippi have dealt with disastrous floods in farming fields, due to the swelling levels of the Mississippi River and continuous rains throughout the South.  The floods have halted planting efforts for farmers forced to wait until the soil is dry enough to plant seeds.
