Evangelist Thanayi Lindsey, Pastor Jacquelyn Davis, and Regional Missionary Kathryn A. Butler ministered powerfully and effectively at the “When You Pray 2nd Annual Virtual Prayer Summit” for West Angeles District Department of Women.

The theme of this year’s prayer summit was “Praying Through Challenging Times” and the power of God was evident from the beginning through the end. Missionary Johanna Gay was the perfect hostess and opened the summit in prayer. Evangelist Mattie Eskridge read the opening scripture and the anointed psalmists were Missionary Paula Southern, Pricilla Tramill, and the one and only Willa Morris Freeman.

Evangelist Lindsey was the first to minister to the attentive virtual audience. Lindsey is a native of Los Angeles and has a passion to teach using cutting-edge tools to convey the inspired Word of God, and that’s just what she did on this occasion.

Lindsey, who is a licensed attorney and is an administrative law judge for the State of California, said, “Prayer is my tool that helps me to maintain a winner’s mindset.”

Pastor Jacquelyn Davis, founder and senior pastor of the I Just Want God Prayer Ministry International Church, was the second to minister. Pastor Davis is an author and in 2019, she released her first book titled, “Take the Journey,” a 21-day devotional that was birthed out of 21-days of prayer and consecration. She is a wife, mother, grandmother, and a registered nurse.

She encouraged listeners to “keep believing” God and to never give up on His promises. She said that she sincerely believes in the power of prayer and is completely convinced that battles are won in life as we draw closer to God by intentionally and consistently “going boldly before the throne of grace where we will obtain mercy and find grace to help in our time of need.” (Hebrews 4:16)

“It is a known fact that we are living in challenging times, however we must ‘keep believing’ what God’s Word has said! We must ‘keep believing’ when our faith is being tested and compromising seems to be acceptable to some. We that are professing to be ‘born again believers’ must ‘keep believing and trusting’ in our God,” she stated.

“Psalm 9:10 states, ‘Those who know your name trust in you, for you, Lord, have never forsaken those who seek you,’” she shared.

The third and final speaker, Regional Missionary Kathryn Butler, is a member of Friendly COGIC, and serves under the leadership of her pastor, Dr. Morris Woods. She is a women’s empowerment and motivational speaker, and best selling author of, “Triumphant in the Trenches (Victory Despite Challenges) – Memoirs of a Military Spouse.”

Butler, who holds a Bachelor of Science Degree in Radio, Television and Film/Broadcast Journalism from Oklahoma State University and was a reporter for KSWO Channel 7 in Lawton Oklahoma, described the entire experience in a nutshell.

“God always aligns His word and brings forth fruit. As each messenger spoke, the presence of the Holy Spirit illuminated the Zoom screen, and the atmosphere was charged! Praying through challenging times was the theme, but it is literally the mantra for every Christian because the spiritual battle never ends,” said Butler.

“We were encouraged to ‘keep standing’ as strong soldiers in the Lord’s Army, to ‘keep believing’ God keeps His promises, and to ‘keep fighting’ by fighting with a winner’s mentality,” she declared. “There are no recesses, so we must focus on what is now and not the past and remain to obtain the promise, which is salvation!”

West Angeles District is comprised of eight churches and District Missionary Victoria J. Green leads the Department of Women. Pastor Chane P.
