Multi-award-winning gospel music legend CeCe Winans’ “Goodness” tour stops in Los Angeles, on Saturday, April 13. Her new album “More Than This,” will be released on April 26, and her third annual “Generations Live” conference will be in Nashville on Mother’s Day weekend.
The L.A. Sentinel spoke with this gifted woman of God about the tour and the conference.
L.A. Sentinel: In light of your coming to grace us on April 13, what would you like to say to the people of Los Angeles?
CeCe Winans: First, I want to say, thank you to the people of L.A.. You’ve been very kind to my family and me over the years and have embraced our music. Many have allowed our music to be the soundtrack to some of their lives.
I’m very excited about coming back to L.A. When I look back and see how long we’ve been doing what we’ve been doing and to be able to come back, that’s a real blessing.
I really want to encourage people because I know they are going through things. We are in some rough times, and there are different challenges for different people, but there is one answer – God loves you right where you are and He’s for you.
It’s one thing to know that God loves you, but it is even more to know that He is actually for you, wants you to succeed in life, and wants you to experience His peace that surpasses all understanding.

LAS: The song “That’s My King” has an anointing upon it whereby the listener knows that yes, that is your King, but He is also a personal King to me. Can you tell us more about that song?
CW: Yes, it’s a new song and I love this song. Not only will it have you dancing and celebrating, but at the same time it reminds you of who we serve, and of who God is. He’s your defender; your protector; your shepherd; your rock, your anchor, and He is yours; He is your King.
It helps us to understand that not only is He the King, but we are His sons and daughters. It just gives you a different perspective, and lets you see yourself above any issues. That’s what I want people to receive from it.
LAS: Tell us about your upcoming album, “More Than This.”
CW: It’s a powerful record. We did some great remakes of songs like “Holy Forever” and “Refiner,” and there are so many familiar songs that people will be able to sing along with and also some powerful new songs.
LAS: Speaking of songs that people will recognize, in April 2022 you and your brother BeBe did the Verzus here in L.A. with Mary Mary. The audience showed you lots of love. What are your thoughts on blending the generations?
CW: I love Mary Mary. We had a lot of fun. The older I get, the more we recognize the value of blending the generations and the more I understand the power of loving and valuing people. When we did Verzus, it was fun and humbling that people have embraced our ministry for so many years.
Even at our church, we have a learning series called “Appreciation of Everyone Month,” which focuses on valuing all people, of all ages.
LAS: On Mother’s Day weekend, you’ll host your 3rd annual Generations Live conference. Your lineup includes Joyce Meyer, Jackie Hill Perry, Dr. Anita Phillips, Tasha Cobbs Leonard, Sheryl Brady, Mom Winans, and many more. Please tell us about this.
CW: It’s going to be amazing and so powerful and I want everybody to make it. Try to be there in person if you can. If you can’t make it in person, we will have a live stream of the conference as well.
I’m telling you; this is my third one, and last year was just… I don’t have words. All I can say is that God showed up. His presence was so tangible, and it was so sweet. It was so refreshing. It was so – – just all-powerful!
That’s what happens when we come together in unity with our hearts focused on him, and when we say, “Lord, we just want to see you.”
LAS: The conference is going to be wonderful. Going back to your visit to L.A. on April 13, what else should your L.A. audience expect to experience?
CW: I believe that we’re going to all have a great encounter with Him. We just want everybody to come ready to worship God, and come ready to praise God, because we’re focusing on the goodness of God.
So often, we tend to focus on what we’re still waiting for, but what about what He’s already done for us? We want to be mindful to focus on what He’s already done and praise Him for it.
