Several churches and organizations in the Los Angeles area will hold Good Friday and Easter Sunday worship services to commemorate the death and resurrection of Jesus Christ. The following list highlights the activities of some of the sponsoring ministries who invite the public to attend.

People’s Independent Church of Christ

Bishop Craig A. Worsham and his congregation will host Good Friday worship on April 14, at 12 p.m. The Rev. Dr. E.V. Hill II will preach. Also, services are set for 6:30 a.m., 9:30 a.m. and 11 a.m., on

CME Southern California Region

The SCR Minister’s Alliance and the Women’s Missionary Society will hold Good Friday worship on April 14, at 12 p.m., at Hays Tabernacle CME Church, 10121 S. Central Ave., in Los Angeles.

The sponsors are Los Angeles-San Diego District Missionary President Terri Dyer, Los Angeles District Missionary President Shirley Levingston, Minister’s Alliance President Terry T. Tapley, Los Angeles-San Diego District Presiding Elder Travis A. Morris, host pastor and Los Angeles District Presiding Elder Mark A. Hardin and Bishop Bobby R. Best, presiding prelate of the Ninth Episcopal District of the CME Church.

The “Seven Last Words” preachers will be, in order of appearance, the Reverends Deborah Rawlins, Adams Stevenson, Gloria Marshall, Marshall Sharpe, Jr., Tyree LaRue, Pansy Washington and Elder Morris.

 

Watts Area Ministers

Watts Area Ministers sponsor a Good Friday Service on April 15, at 12 p.m., at Village Baptist Church, 1521 E. 111th St., in Los Angeles, said the Rev. Reginald A. Pope, WAM president and the Rev. Charles Harris, Jr., host pastor. Pastor Terry Wilson will be the worship leader and Pastor Robert Arline will render the music. The Reverends Pope, Joe Waller, K.L. Burrus, Theodore Hall, James Lettries, Marcus Murchinson and Tyree Larue will preach the “Seven Last Words of Christ.”

 

Crenshaw United Methodist Church

Two Good Friday services are for April 14, at 12 p.m. and 7 p.m., at in the Crenshaw UMC edifice located at 3740 Don Felipe Dr., in Los Angeles, said Pastor Royce Porter. On April 16, 2017, Easter services take place at 6:30 a.m. and 11 a.m. An Easter egg hunt for children will be held after worship. For information, call (323) 292-0141 or email [email protected].

 

Clergy Women Toastmasters

The group’s Open House breakfast meeting will feature the 4th annual Good Friday Speak-A-Thon on April 14, at 7:30 a.m., at Crenshaw United Methodist Church, 3740 Don Felipe Dr., in Los Angeles. The Rev. Helena Titus, president, said, “Dr. Jean Perez, Rev. Judi Wortham-Sauls, and Dr. Gail Riley and several CWTM members will recount the final sayings of Jesus from the cross along with inspirational messages of hope, faith and power.” For more information, email [email protected].

 

First Congregational Church of Los Angeles

Easter celebrations will be held at 9 a.m. and 11 a.m., in the church’s edifice located at 540 S. Commonwealth Ave., in Los Angeles. Pastor R. Scott Colglazier sermon is entitled, “Easter?
