Watts Area Ministers hosts their Pre-Annual Martin Luther King Day Celebration on Jan. 6, at 11 a.m., at the Martin Luther King Shopping Center, 103rd St. and Compton Ave., in Los Angeles, said the Rev. The theme is “Fighting to Fulfill the Dream.” The celebration includes a peace march led by the Black Diamond Drill Team, scholarships presented to students, music and refreshments. Local Ministries Plan Good Friday and Resurrection Day Services

Several churches and organizations in the Los Angeles area will hold Good Friday and Easter Sunday worship services to commemorate the death and resurrection of Jesus Christ. The following list highlights the activities of some of the sponsoring ministries who invite the public to attend. People’s Independent Church of Christ Bishop Craig A. Worsham and his congregation will host Good Friday worship on April 14, at 12 p.m. The Rev. Dr. E.V. Hill II will preach. Also, services are set for 6:30 a.m., 9:30 a.m. and 11 a.m., on Resurrection Sunday. A fellowship breakfast will be held at 8 a.m.

Murray joins Watts Area Ministers’ MLK salute

 The Rev. Dr. Cecil “Chip” Murray will join the Watts Area Ministers, Inc., (WAM) at its annual salute to the Rev. Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr. WAM’s King Day Celebration is set for Friday, January 15, at 11 a.m., at the Martin Luther King Shopping Center on 103rd Street and Compton Avenue. “We are summoning people, particularly from the Watts Community, to gather with us in a peace march around the center then assemble adjacent to the only monument in Southern California dedicated to Dr. King, erected by the artist, Charles Dickson,” said the Rev.
