National Black Business Month was created in 2004 by John William Templeton and Frederick E. Jordan Sr., to bring attention to the need of supporting Black-owned businesses. Today, there are approximately 2.6 million Black-owned businesses in the United States.

Actress and comedienne Tiffany Haddish is the celebrity chair for the 18th Annual Taste of Soul Family Festival, set for Saturday, October 21, from 10 a.m. to 7 p.m.  The largest block party on the West Coast takes place along Crenshaw Boulevard, from Obama Boulevard to Stocker Street.

      On Monday, June 5, the Los Angeles Lakers and representatives of bibigo® foods hosted their inaugural ‘Lakers Town’ community event in Koreatown. LADWP Electric Crews Complete `Priority 1′ Pole Repairs

The Los Angeles Department of Water and Power completed repairs to more than 800 electrical poles in need of immediate safety- related repairs after Los Angeles city officials, including the mayor, urged for the agency to take swift action to address those potentially dangerous electric poles.
