Compton Man Arrested for Attempted Pimping

A 28-year-old Compton man has been charged with human trafficking, pandering and the attempted pimping of an undercover officer posing as a 17-year-old girl, the Orange County District Attorney’s Office announced recently.

Rapper 50 Cent Files for Bankruptcy

50 Cent declared bankruptcy on July 13 after losing a multi-million dollar lawsuit. The filing comes after Lavonia Leviston won a $5 million jury verdict against 50 after the court determined the rapper intentionally leaked a sex tape in which she was featured. Leviston is the former girlfriend and mother of rapper Rick Ross’ child.

Defendant Pleads Not Guilty in Price Murder

A 24-year-old man pleaded not guilty this week to the gang-related murder of a 19-year-old mentally disabled man who was gunned down near a South Los Angeles car wash, apparently over his red shoes. Kevin Deon Johnson and his co-defendant, Dwight Kevin Smith, 30, are both scheduled to return to court next Monday to get a preliminary hearing date. Smith pleaded not guilty on June 22 to a murder charge.
