Dr. J. Benjamin Hardwick, pastor of Praises of Zion Baptist Church in Los Angeles, welcomed Dr. Hugh Dell Gatewood, president of the Women’s Auxiliary of the National Baptist Convention (NBC), USA, Inc., on June 28.

Dr. Gatewood delivered a powerful message at the 7 a.m., and 11 a.m., worship services. Addressing the congregation, she said, “Strive toward the full knowledge that there is a true and living God and that through His Son, Jesus, we have forgiveness and redemption.”

Dr. Hardwick, who is also president of the Western Baptist State Convention (WBSC), added, “We must continue to equip the people of God with proper Biblical doctrine so that we walk in truth and obedience.”

A native of Texas, Dr. Gatewood is active on many levels in the faith community. She serves as president of the Women’s Auxiliary of the Baptist Missionary and Educational Convention of Texas and was a contributing writer for the Mission Study Guide of the Women’s Auxiliary, National Baptist Convention.

Dr. Gatewood, a member of Greater First Baptist Church in Houston, TX, is a graduate of Texas Southern University.
