More than 375 children enjoyed the 12th Annual Christmas Toy Giveaway sponsored by Fathers and Mothers Who Care (FMWC) in collaboration with Vermont Galaxy and Mindful Medicine on Dec. 12.

Holding the event for the first time in Compton, the festivities included a hot chocolate bar, delicious food, games for all attendees, and an appearance by Santa Claus. Also, a special sensory-sensitive session was held for children with sensory needs and Mindful Medicine provided free health screenings.

The organizers extended appreciation to an array of generous donors. Contributors included 

Rising Communities, Raising Canes, the Office of Supervisor Holly Mitchell, FedEx, Chick-fil-A, Freedom House, CalAIM, United Way, and KJLH Radio. In addition, the giveaway received strong support from the Office of Assemblymember Mike Gipson.

According to a spokesperson, “This annual event is designed to bring smiles to children and families in our community, with a special emphasis on inclusion and accessibility.
