NFL “Golden Shovel” Moves From Inglewood to Phoenix for Super Bowl LVII

Earlier this month, the NFL Green culminated their environmental projects in the Los Angeles area in honor of Super Bowl LVI at the Passing of the Golden Shovel ceremony in Darby Park in Inglewood. Los Angeles will now pass the Golden Shovel to Phoenix, Ariz., the host city for Super Bowl LVII. The Super Bowl LVI host committee, the City of Inglewood, the NFL, the L.A. Rams, and Verizon partnered to host the ceremony along with a beautification project at Darby Park. Volunteers throughout the community, including members from the Divine Nine fraternities and sororities, planted trees and drought-resistant plants

Dr. William R. Weathers Passes Away

Dr. William Rolfe Weathers, 83 years of age, died on December 9, 2021, in Los Angeles. William was born at Homer G. Phillips Hospital on October 5, 1938, in St. Louis, Missouri,  the third of four siblings born to Dr. Henri Weathers II and Alice Mae Gentry Weathers.

UCLA Alumni Celebrate Founding of Kappa Alpha Psi Chapter

Kappa Alpha Psi Fraternity’s National Director of Organizational Effectiveness and Anniversary Chairman Kevin D. Kinsey announced that Kappa Alpha Psi Fraternity’s 95th Charter Day Celebraion was well received and participated by members and honored guestsalike.  The theme “Rich Past, Strong Renuion, Bright Future” was fitting to depict the 95th Charter Day Celebrations most auspicious events.
