Alliance - All 12 Pro Sports Team United – Plans Student-Led Unity March & Dialogue

On July 24, in an annual event that celebrates the 12 pro sports teams of greater Los Angeles and Orange County coming together to use sports to drive social change, local youth, LAPD officers, community members and civic leaders, the public is encouraged to join the Alliance Unity March & Dialogue. Each year, the student-led march emphasizes what change we can make when we stand united and work together to end racial inequality. The event begins at 9am. 

Councilmember Curren Price Provides $5.5 Million to 100 Organizations Across the New Ninth District and Beyond!

Councilmember Curren Price (D-9th District) hosted a press conference to honor different organizations responsible for the growth in the ninth district and surrounding areas in Los Angeles. On Thursday, April 21, Price presented over 100 checks totaling over $5 million to local businesses and organizations that earned the acknowledgment and appreciation.   

Student Athlete of the Week: Adam Singh

Inglewood senior dual-sport student athlete Adam Singh has a competitive spirit and knows how to find opportunities to better himself. Along with playing point guard on the boys’ basketball team, he runs the 100m and the 200m for the track and field team.

Black Lines Matter: The Fight Over Redistricting Lines in Los Angeles

: Council Districts (CDs) 8, 9 and 10 saw minimal changes in the final draft map to be submitted to the Los Angeles City Council by the Redistricting Commission. The adopted draft map, which passed by a 15-6 vote, featured adjustments to the three CDs with the city’s highest numbers of voting age African Americans. Most notably, Exposition Park is now located in CD 8.
