Kappa Alpha Psi Fraternity Inc. founded on January 5, 1911 celebrated 107 years last Friday. To commemorate the fraternity’s founding, Brothers from across the country joined together to discuss plans for its future, to commemorate the 10 founders of the fraternity in Bloomington, Indiana during some of the nation’s most segregated and racist times and to reflect on the accomplishments of the fraternity and as Black men over the years.
The members of Kappa Alpha Psi Pasadena Alumni Chapter got together to celebrate the achievements of their individual members. Brothers paid special recognition to Brother Gerald Freeny of Pasadena Alumni Chapter (seated 2nd from left) who will be inducted on January 18, as president of the 130th Tournament of Roses. Freeny’s ascension to the position will be historical as he will be the first African American to serve in this capacity in the Tournament’s 130 year history.
