On Saturday, January 22, a group of women gathered at the Jamaica Bay Inn in Marina Del Rey, CA, to celebrate Fatima Elswify’s soon-to-be wedding and marriage to Matthew Thomas.   The attendees were comprised of friends and family from various areas of her life. In its journey to Super Bowl LVI, the Los Angeles Super Bowl Host Committee has selected PVJOBS as part of the official Super Bowl LVI Legacy Program – Champions Live Here. PVJOBS is among a total of 56 local “Champion” organizations that were designated for the Super Bowl LVI Legacy Program. These “Champion” organizations will receive grants and marketing recognition to support their work that represent diverse focus areas, including youth engagement, workforce development and social justice across the Los Angeles region.

About A Dozen Protesters Arrested in Beverly Hills

About a dozen protesters were arrested tonight for failure to disperse, and at least one person for alleged “assault on a police officer” during a demonstration organized by the Black Future Project in Beverly Hills.

Trailblazers Honored at Pepperdine Urban Initiative 2.0 Community Dinner

  The Pepperdine University Graduate School of Education and Psychology (GSEP) held an Urban Initiative 2.0 Community Dinner in Marina Del Rey recognizing Trailblazer Alumni Honorees who have worked tirelessly within their communities for the last 30-40 years. Art Center College of Design Honors Legendary Shoe Designer from Inglewood

On April 27, D’Wayne Edwards, who has designed shoes for some of America’s top companies like Nike and Adidas, received an honorary degree from Art Center College of Design in Pasadena. Unremarkable as it seems (Edwards has been a professional designer for about 30 years now), it’s not something Edwards imagined would happen for him. But he’s honored nonetheless,  to have received the degree; it’s something that has sparked a look back at his life in somewhat of amazement.

Missing Boys from Ladera Heights Found with Grandmother from Phoenix

Phoenix police said Milner was arrested on a Los Angeles County report that she had failed to return her 2- and 4-year-old boys from a planned unsupervised visit that had been scheduled to end at 4 p.m. Friday in Ladera Heights. She was arrested on suspicion of child abduction and violation of court order, Alexander said.
