Walking into what felt like a vault, Nike Air Max sneakers greeted guests upon entry. Outlined on a timeline, hanging from the wall—one could see how the Air Max fleet evolved into the Air Max Dn8. Located on 433 N Fairfax Ave., Complex and Nike played homage to how Fairfax was the mecca for luxury L.A. Street brands while launching the future of the Nike Air Max shoe.

On Tuesday, March 25, Complex and Nike celebrated Air Max Day with a preview of its installation. Walking through the event, one could design their own screen-printed shirt, using logos from The Hundreds brand.
The Hundreds was a pioneer of L.A. Streetwear that was founded in 2003. Their Fairfax flagship store became a hub for sneakerheads and streetwear fans. Fairfax Avenue became a destination for the coolest underground luxury brands that held the same “diamond in the rough” mentality.

Complex shared that Air Max and its vibrant colors defined entire generations of wearers since its launch in 1987, symbolizing the strength of personal style. Artists like Travis Scott and Virgil Abloh took to the Air Max when it came time to creating a footwear that represented them.
The Air Max shoe was made for casual or formal attire. The Dn8’s sharp energy creates a new edge for the Air Max style. The sneaker will be available in 14 hues which includes Hyper Pink.
The DN8 looks to resemble DNA of air.
The DN8 shoe represents Nike’s new dynamic air technology. A Nike representative explained the eight-valve tubing system that works throughout the shoe to provide responsive cushioning with each step. The DN8 is crafted with 20% recycled product.
