Lakers Dominate Heat 116-98 In Game One of NBA Finals

The Los Angeles Lakers returned to the NBA Finals for the first time in a decade to face the Miami Heat in Game One inside the Orlando Bubble on Wednesday. While the Heat jumped out to a hot start in the first quarter, Los Angeles rebounded to outlast Miami 116-98 and would lead by as many as 32 points in the game. 

NBA’s Playoff Game Boycotts Sparks Domino Effect Across Major League Sports Amidst Jacob Blake Shooting

The Milwaukee Bucks took a historic stand by electing not to play in the scheduled Wednesday Game 5 of the NBA Playoff series versus the Orlando Magic to boycott police brutality and specifically boycott the treatment of Jacob S. Blake, a 29-year-old American Black man who was shot in the back seven times by a Kenosha police officer that left him paralyzed earlier on Sunday.

The Lo Down on Lakers’ Media Day

The reinvented Los Angeles Lakers held Media Day at the UCLA Health Training Facility on Friday with the return of some familiar faces and a plethora of new ones. Two of the most recognizable faces were LeBron James, who returned for his second season in the purple and gold, and Anthony Davis, who was acquired in a blockbuster summer trade that sent the former Lakers’ young core to New Orleans.

As the 2019 NBA Awards came to an end on Monday, Giannis Antetokounmpo was named the 2019 NBA MVP at the Barker Hangar in Santa Monica, Calif. Tears streamed down his face as the 24-year-old gave an emotionally charged speech after receiving the NBA’s highest honor. He thanked his family and the support system that he felt led him to this moment.
