County Helps Break Ground On First Phase of Affordable Housing Development In Lancaster

Officials from the Community Development Commission of the County of Los Angeles (CDC) joined Los Angeles County Supervisor Kathryn Barger, and Abbey Road and Cloudbreak Communities, the Developers, to celebrate the groundbreaking of Antelope Valley Veterans and Families Imagine Village I (AV Imagine Village I), a three-story, 75-unit, multifamily affordable housing development that provides family housing for very low- and low-income households.

LOS ANGELES COUNTY ENCOURAGES RESIDENTS TO PREPARE FOR INCOMING WINTER STORMS

The National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration National Weather Service (NWS) Los Angeles/Oxnard office is forecasting a series of winter storms, scheduled to sweep through the Los Angeles County Operational Area Friday, February 17 through Saturday, February 18. These storms are expected to bring heavy rain and possibly thunderstorms that may trigger mud/debris flows in recent burn areas, urban flooding and strong winds that may down trees and power lines. The NWS Los Angeles/Oxnard office has also issued Flash Flood Watches for the Los Angeles County basin as well as the coast, valleys, and mountains areas that are in effect until Saturday, February 18.

LOS ANGELES COUNTY ADVISES RESIDENTS ON HOW TO PREPARE FOR BACK-TO-BACK STORMS

A series of storms is sweeping through Los Angeles County, with the final and strongest one predicted to affect the area late Saturday night through Monday. The combined rainfall totals for all three storms could be 3.00-6.00” for coastal and valley areas, with up to 9.00” possible in some foothill and mountain areas. Potential impacts include flash flooding and debris flows for recent burn areas, rock and mudslides along canyon roads, urban and small stream flooding, significant travel delays, isolated power outages, and dangerous driving conditions.

Black Girls and Sex Trafficking in Los Angeles!

Pimping or sex trafficking, is a multi-billion-dollar industry and predators are likely to make anywhere from $150,000 to $300,000 each year selling and exploiting the bodies of Black teenage girls. According to the U.S. Justice Department and National Center for Missing and Exploited children, the average pimp has four to six girls and many are ages 13-14. These young ladies are, raped, beaten, branded, contract sexually transmitted diseases within six months
