The Martin Luther King Jr., community hospital is now operating at high-quality services to help an underserved community. United Health Care donated 10,000 COVID safety kits to the MLK outpatient center. Those safety kits contain hand sanitizers, masks, hand tools, toilet paper, and educational materials on how to stay safe during the Coronavirus.

Dodgers Justin Turner Reaches Milestone 1000 Career Hits

The Los Angeles Dodgers lose back to back games to the Padres, and close to losing the season series, which they have not done yet in this shortened season. Manager Dave Roberts states the scoreboard does not reflect their at-bat quality and their intent to win the game. “We squared a lot of balls up tonight. I really, really love the fight, the competition in the batter’s box. I think we have to continue to stay the course.” Roberts gave credit to Padres for their energy. “Its Baseball we have to give those guys credit, they came with energy and got a big hit when they needed it.”

Paul George Thinks Ivica Zubac is Playoff Ready

Playoffs are around the corner, and George expects excellent things from Zubac. With all the playoff experience on the Clippers, George says Zubac will be able to learn abruptly. He states, “I expect good things from him. I think again, a good thing about it, he’s got so much playoff experience around him our job is to make the process easy for him. Again, everyone is going to make mistakes. I’m still learning the game. It’s going to come naturally. But I think he’s ready for the experience.”

Mustard, Roddy Ricch, Jhene Aiko and Trey Songz Host Feed Your City Challenge in South L.A.

Councilman Marqueece Harris-Dawson was excited to be working with the Feed Your City Challenge. He mentioned how great it was to have Roddy Ricch and Mustard, who are both from the South L.A. community, help host and be hands on during the food drive. “Roddy Ricch and Mustard, they are both homeboys, they are from the community. They came up in our streets and they know how it is in the neighborhood,” says Dawson. He continues, “Once you put out the fall to give help, or get help, our community shows up. It just takes the right individuals to make the right call, set up the event, get volunteers and sponsors. LAPD is here, the fire department is here. Everybody steps up and we make it work. We make it do what it do.”

Singer, rapper, and actress Janell Monae said it was an honor, and privilege to serve the community. “This is where I feel I am rocking in my purpose the most,” says Monae. In an interview with the Los Angeles Sentinel, Monae mentions, “We’re in tough times with COVID-19, and folks not being able to survive, not knowing where their next meal is. We want to erase the stigma of asking for help.”

ECM Hosts Young African Americans and LAPD in One-on-One Conversations

“It’s time for people to get comfortable with being uncomfortable,” said LAPD Sergeant Kenji Inaba at the meeting on June 10 between young Blacks and members of the Los Angeles Police Department. Twenty-five LAPD officers and 25 young African Americans in South L.A. held an hour-long, one-on-one conversation with each other to get different perspectives on their relationships. The goal of this event was to bridge the gap between officers and community members. The Rev.
