Everyone enjoys a good BBQ…odds are you’re gonna love some Smokey Joe.
There is something about the smell of BBQ that just puts people in the mood to eat. One of the great American all-times, BBQ is an art that many have perfected right down to the sauce used to slather those crackling meats on the grill. Smokey Joe BBQ (SJB) will be sharing their grilled expertise at Taste of Soul 2012 (TOS), so get ready to grub!
Joseph Statum is the owner of SJB and established his mobile business in 1997. Originally from Georgia, Statum came to California in the late 1980s. He got started by cooking for friends and family, which would transform into a business venture.
“Everybody liked the barbecue when I started,” said Statum. He combined his barbecue with elements of the southwest to give it a unique flavor. Statum also uses the old-time BBQ flavors such as mesquite and hickory to flavor his food.
This will be Statum’s first TOS and he’s looking forward to meeting everyone with hungry appetites. “The barbecue ribs, chicken, baked beans… and the tri tip,” will be waiting for ya.
SJB is mobile caters events in Los Angeles and is in the process of establishing a location by the end of the year.
