On a Fall Sunday in Los Angeles, the Los Angeles Rams hosted the Philidelphia Eagles, where the tailgate brought out Eagles and Rams fans, some donning jerseys of the new stars of the NFL while others fashioned their jerseys from decades past. Sofi Stadium hosted for an unforgettable NFL Sunday Night football game and the fans were not disappointed.
Every now and then, you witness something magical in an NFL game, a feat so immense that is stays with you forever. From Los Angeles Rams legend Eric Dickerson rushing 215 yards against the 1984 New York Jets, to Houston Oiler running back Earl Campbell competing on Monday Night Football against the 1978 Miami Dolphins, on any given Sunday (Monday or Thursday), magical and historic moments can happen.
The Rams vs Eagles match-up brought in the majestic and acrobatic style of Rams Kyren Williams and the puma-like Saquan Barkley, whose instincts and unpredictable field vision defy science. Both backs have displayed supernatural athleticism and gracefulness in big runs and scores.

Williams struck first late in the first quarter, powering through on a one-yard touchdown off a 64-yard drive led by quarterback Mathew Stafford. Williams helped the Rams stay competitive, finishing with a respectable 72 yards off 16 carries, but the Eagles defense adjusted and rallied to dominate with five quarterback sacks and a fumble recovery.
Quarterback Jalen Hurts had a solid game with 179 passing yards and one touchdown. But the night belonged to Barkley, who set the single-game franchise record with 255 rushing yards and 302 total yards from scrimmage. Two of his most thrilling runs were for a jaw-dropping 70 and 72 yards. It was the ninth-most rushing yards in a game in NFL history and the highest total since 2009.
As Barkley and the Eagles walked off the field in victory, their fans repeatedly chanted, “MVP!”
According to the franchise website, his 1,392 yards now leads the NFL. Barkley is on pace to take down the all-time single-season rushing record of 1,607, made by LeSean McCoy during the 2013 season.
“My whole mantra this offseason and this season, how consistent I can be day-to-day. Whether I rush for 250 yards or I rush for 50 yards, still come in on Monday and do the same thing,” Barkley said after the game. “My story’s not finished and it’s going to keep going. When the season’s all said and done, we’ll look back and smile and be happy with the things I did or didn’t do.”
