Curry Temple CME Church will celebrate its 55th anniversary on Sunday, May 15, in the sanctuary located at 322 Rosecrans Ave., in Compton.

Pastor Joseph C. Gardner, Sr., who will preach at 9:30 a.m., said, “The greater Los Angeles community is invited to join us in observing this significant milestone in the life of our church. We promise you will enjoy an uplifting, spirit-filled time in the Lord.”

The Rev. Dr. J. Arthur Rumph, pastor of Grant AME Church – L.A., will deliver the sermon at the 3 p.m. worship.   A native of Alabama, Dr. Rumph has been a minister for more than 31 years.

He earned his Bachelor of Arts degree at the University of Alabama, his Master of Divinity degree at Turner Theological Seminary and Doctor of Ministry degree at Beeson School of Divinity. His career also includes teaching at the college level, conducting seminars, and facilitating workshops for religious and community-based groups as a lecturer and consultant.
