The World Conference of Mayors and Captain Millionaires Inc. recently announced a new joint initiative called “Unity for a Better Community” (UFABC) to promote unity, social justice, and economic empowerment across the United States and worldwide.
The campaign, spearheaded by Dr. Gerald Higginbotham, a mentor, professional public speaker, author, and community activist, will officially launch at a special event on Friday, August 23, in Atlanta, GA.
The event will feature the debut performance of the “Unity” campaign song, written and produced by the award-winning bassist, Bootsy Collins. Collins and his wife, Patti, founded the “Funk Not Fight, Rally for Peace” in 2022 through the Bootsy Collins Foundation to bring awareness to and stop violence and unrest in communities of color.
Johnny Ford, president of the World Conference of Mayors, said, “We are thrilled to partner with Captain Millionaires Inc. and Bootsy Collins to spread a message of unity, empowerment, and action.

“By aligning the collective power of cities worldwide with Bootsy’s unifying musical influence, we believe we can catalyze real, positive change in communities that need it most.”
This UFABC campaign is a natural extension of Collins’ mission to uplift and empower individuals worldwide through the transformative power of music. The UFABC launch event will also honor the UN’s International Day for the Remembrance of the Slave Trade and its Abolition, recognizing the ongoing fight for racial justice and equity.
Together with the influential voices of the World Conference of Mayors, the UFABC campaign has established a social impact fund that focuses on delivering “city-to-city” treasury solutions to facilitate peacemaking, food banking, time banking, and affordable housing programs in underserved communities. These innovative financial and social services aim to bridge divides, build community resilience, and create pathways to economic opportunities, and interdependency.
