NFL player and volunteers repair 16 homes for Los Angeles neighbors as part of Super Bowl-sanctioned event
On February 11th, Lowe’s Home Team Player and Los Angeles Rams wide receiver, Robert Woods, joined Rebuilding Together of the City of Angels and Lowe’s, the official home improvement sponsor of the NFL, to provide essential repairs for homes in Los Angeles neighborhoods including View Park as part of Kickoff to Rebuild.
Kickoff to Rebuild, a Super Bowl-sanctioned event presented by Lowe’s, directly benefits 16 families in Los Angeles through home repairs.
Volunteers from Lowe’s, local contractors, and the community came together to perform home repairs, including roof replacements, bathroom upgrades, kitchen installations, landscaping, window repairs and fresh paint. They also conducted a cleanup and planting in a community garden. The families include a senior struggling with mobility, a veteran on dialysis and a retired healthcare provider. COVID-19 safety guidelines provided by the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention were enforced.
Repairs were made to the Consolidated Board of Realtists, a local organization founded in 1949 that strives for democracy in housing by opening doors for Black American professionals and consumers in real estate. The Board is part of the National Association of Real Estate Brokers (NAREB), which in 1963 secured the passage of the nation’s first state-level fair housing legislation in California.
Kickoff to Rebuild is an annual Super Bowl-sanctioned event hosted by Rebuilding Together, a leading national housing nonprofit with a mission to repair the homes of people in need and revitalize communities.
