As we approach the 55th NFL Superbowl next Sunday in Tampa, Florida amidst the continued national spread of COVID-19, I believe that the time has come for the close-knit group of team owners in the National Football League (NFL) to take the necessary steps to open the door to African American business leaders who hope to join that exclusive club of owners.

Entertainers Address Social Injustice Issues at Super Bowl

ATLANTA (AP) — Some entertainers believe social injustice needs to be addressed during the Super Bowl and are ensuring the topic that ignited a political firestorm, engulfing the NFL, will be in the spotlight. They passionately disagree on how. Some will perform in Super Bowl-related events while others will be noticeably absent. Former NFL player Colin Kaepernick helped start a wave of protests by kneeling during the national anthem to raise awareness to police brutality, racial inequality and other social issues. Jermaine Dupri said he was called a “sellout” for hosting a Super Bowl-related event during a meeting with people

HOF 2016: Trailblazing success carries Dungy to Hall of Fame

TAMPA, Fla. (AP) _ Nine games into his bid to transform the bumbling Tampa Bay Buccaneers into championship contenders, the normally unflappable Tony Dungy reached a boiling point. A 1-8 record was discouraging, but hardly the only disheartening aspect of yet another slow start for a perennial last-place franchise that suffered through 13 consecutive losing seasons before the young coach’s arrival in 1996. The soft-spoken Dungy, who will be inducted into the Pro Football Hall of Fame on Saturday, recalled walking into his office after a third consecutive loss by six or fewer points on the road and learning one

Denver Broncos Win Super Bowl 50!

Santa Clara, Calif. – It was unseasonably warm in Levi Stadium on Sunday, February 8, 2016…a great day for football. At exactly 3:30pm, PT, the Denver Broncos and the Carolina Panthers took the field in front of 71,088 cheering fans to begin what many sports pundits had predicted…a win by the Carolina Panthers. In fact, ESPN’s Football Power Index had given the Broncos a 44 percent chance of winning. It was not to be for the Panthers, a team that had gone 17-1 in regular season play. The Denver Broncos defeated the Carolina Panthers, 24-10 in Super Bowl 50. It
