Anniversary event features singer/songwriters, authors, music executives and artist showcase!

The annual Platform Workshop for Christian Artists returns on Saturday, August 17, from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m., at Crenshaw Christian Center, 7901 S. Vermont Ave., in Los Angeles.

“I created The Platform Workshop to provide opportunities for Christian singers, songwriters, authors and speakers to develop their skills and get their voices heard,” said Carol Ross-Burnett, founder and workshop host.

Announcing the inclusion of an artist showcase, Ross-Burnet added, “It has always been part of my vision to provide a showcase for Christian artists. This year, workshop registrants can submit audition materials and be selected to receive valuable feedback.”

The workshop’s master songwriting instructor, Babbie Mason, has had a long and successful career as a Christian songwriter and gospel singer. An author and motivational speaker, she launched the online Babbie Mason Radio to promote independent Christian artists.

Brenda Lee Eager is a renowned soul singer/songwriter who established fame with the legendary Jerry Butler and has enjoyed a chart-topping solo career. Aretha Franklin, Ray Charles and Prince have recorded her songs.

Qiana Conley is a prominent music business executive with the Recording Academy and Grammys. She started her career at Epic Records working with notables as Michael Jackson and Jennifer Lopez. Her expertise includes A&R, creative, music publishing, and television and film production.

Others will present on speaking, writing and getting published, including story contributors to the “Chicken Soup for the African American Soul” and “African American Woman’s Soul” books. Various aspects of the industry will also be discussed along with roundtable sessions, Q&A and networking with speakers.
