How close can we get to the truth? Eve didn’t dream that the serpent was her worst nightmare. She prioritized her own agenda to take over. It’s similar, like you can be with someone and the person [child, relative, whoever] just thinks up something that might sound like a great idea, but….Sometimes remarks are not subtle, calculated. Are we able to discern truth from lies. Who knows what’s in a person’s heart? Only that person. Sometimes, the person doesn’t realize the ramifications of his/her thinking words, and actions.
Remember this??, “Sticks and stones may break my bones, but words will never hurt me.” BBBig Lie! Words enter the hearing and take root in the spirit so that one adds actions to the words. Adam trusted Eve. Eve trusted the serpent. Ignoring the highest authority, made a mess, listening to bad advice from his wife. Same way with everyday people; just don’t want to listen to good, sound advice. In the case of Adam and Eve, apparently Eve thought she was listening to a higher authority and decided to follow really bad advice.
Thinking the serpent was “friend” but was “the enemy.” How about parents and friends speaking death to their children or friends instead of uplifting words. Watch out for destructive, negative remarks. Well, you say, “They don’t sound destructive or that serious.
The remarks can’t do no harm [you think].” Wrong! Spoken words go into the universe and begin to manifest in reality, tangible life whether good or bad. Actions can also come in motions, body language, nods of the head, facial expressions and suggestive movements. So, you want to seek someone’s approval and in a weak moment you listen and act upon their advice. When it’s too late, you realize that your friend’s advice was not good advice and not well thought out. We want to listen to the advice of those we trust.
Unfortunately, the trusted one may offer terrible advice. I heard the remark, “Girl, you ought to leave him. Or man, you ought to leave her.” The problem is that if the “speaker” doesn’t have someone to leave or if she has someone to leave, why isn’t she leaving her man/husband? On the other hand, if she doesn’t have a man/husband to leave, how can she know about staying in a healthy relationship or any kind of relationship. As for the man, his friend says, “Man you ought to leave her.” Well how do you know that maybe he wants you to leave her so he can make his “play for her.” Ooh, we could go on and on, but no more space.
Teach the children!
