Nets say 4 players test positive for new coronavirus

Four Brooklyn Nets players have tested positive for the new coronavirus, bringing the total to seven known players in the NBA.

The team announced Tuesday that one player is exhibiting symptoms, while the other three are asymptomatic. All four players have been isolated and are under the care of team physicians.

Lack of Approvals Means LAUSD Family Resource Centers Will Be Food Centers

Beutner said the centers, which were expected to open Wednesday, will instead open on that day as “Grab and Go Food Centers,” 20 of which were already planned in addition to the 40 Family Resource Centers. The switch means a total of 60 Grab and Go centers will be available between 7 and 10 a.m. weekdays, beginning Wednesday, and each child will receive two meals.

Some LA County Library Lobbies to Open for Customer Hold Pickups

Though all of the LA County Library’s 86 locations remain closed to the public due to the coronavirus, customers starting today can pick up holds at designated locations during select hours. Animal Shelters Closed Across L.A. County

“In alignment with the city of Los Angeles’ activation of emergency operations related to COVID-19, effective immediately, all six Los Angeles Animal Services (LAAS) centers and the administrative office will be closed to the public through March 31, unless rescinded earlier or extended further,” staff announced Monday night. “Be assured that we will have staff available to feed, clean, and provide enrichment for the animals in our care. Our animal control officers will respond to emergency calls such as dangerous dogs, animal
cruelty, and humane calls.”

Macy’s, Inc. Temporarily Closes Stores Nationwide in Response to COVID-19 Outbreak

In response to the widespread COVID-19 outbreak, Macy’s, Inc. (NYSE: M) today announced that it will temporarily close all stores by end of business today, March 17, 2020, through March 31, 2020. This includes all Macy’s, Bloomingdale’s, Bluemercury, Macy’s Backstage, Bloomingdales the Outlet and Market by Macy’s stores. Macy’s, Inc. will provide benefits and compensation to its impacted workforce.

Compton College Campus Closed to Public Beginning March 17 through April 10, 2020

Compton College students are asked to continually check their Compton College email for updates on transitioning to online and alternative methods of instruction/student support services. All classes are canceled March 17, 2020, through March 20, 2020, so faculty can transition courses to an alternative instruction method, such as Canvas course delivery software or teleconferencing. The majority of courses will move to alternative methods of instruction beginning Saturday, March 21, 2020, through Friday, April 10, 2020. Options are also being explored for students who don’t have reliable access to computers or broadband. More information will be provided directly to students on Wednesday, March 18, 2020
