THE SENTINEL’S TOP 10
(all games Friday at 7p.m. unless indicated. Rankings only include teams in Sentinel coverage region)
.St. John Bosco (4-1)…plays league rival Mater Dei in a game that will determine more than bragging rights.
.Long Beach Poly (4-1)…defeated Compton 99-9 and this week will visit L.B. Jordan. It’s getting ugly in the Moore or less league.
.San Pedro (5-0)…now we find out what the Pirates are made of. A key Marine League showdown against Narbonne that has failed nearly every big test.
.Cathedral (5-0)…blanked Verbum Dei 36-0 last week and has done everything right to move up in the LAS rankings and will play on Saturday Oct. 11 against Salesian.
.Serra (Gardena) (4-2)…lost 14-7 to Bishop Amat last week, a team that lost by a point to undefeated Crespi. Now the Cavs get Crespi with all of the marbles on the table.
.Loyola(4-2)…going in the wrong direction in a hurry and will have a week to think about undefeated and speedy Alemany on Oct. 17.
.Dominguez (3-2)…blistered by Westlake 41-14 which means Donnerson has a good team, but far from great.
.Narbonne (2-3)…can really right the ship with a victory against undefeated San Pedro.
.Carson (3-2)…lost to West Torrance 40-19 and will open Marine League play against Washington.
.Crenshaw (2-3)…thank goodness that brutal non-league play is over. Lost to St. John Bosco 65-7 and will begin Coliseum League play against their bitter rivals Dorsey at the Shaw.
