Political Playback: News You Might Have Missed – June 15

Dr. William “Bill” Spriggs, an educator and one of the economists serving on the California Reparations Task Force, passed away on June 6.   The chief economist for the American Federation of Labor and Congress of Industrial Organizations (AFL-CIO) and a former chairperson of the Economics Department at Howard University, Spriggs, 68, held several economic policy positions in the federal government, spanning two presidential administrations.

Culver City Hosts Powerful Black History Month Event

The Black History Month Event in Culver City on Feb. 23 was a powerful and emotional celebration of Black joy, culture, and history. The event was hosted by Vice-Mayor Yasmine-Imani McMorrin, School Board Member Triston Ezidore, and Congresswoman Sydney Kamlager-Dove at a small business bookstore called Village Wells.

Women Overwhelmingly Support Heather Hutt as CD 10 Councilmember 

Councilmember Heather Hutt is receiving the most grassroots support to be Council District 10 representative.  She is the first woman to represent CD 10, the only Black woman on the current City Council and only the third Black woman to serve on the Council in the history of the city.
