Man Shot, Killed in Compton

A man was shot and killed this afternoon in Compton.

The shooting was reported about 5:30 p.m. in the 1000 block of West Almond Street, between Wilmington and Central avenues, according to the Sheriff’s Information Bureau.

Deputies responded to a gunshot victim call and found the victim with at least one gunshot wound to his upper body, the sheriff’s department reported.


The man was taken to a hospital, where he was pronounced dead.

Deputies were conducting a perimeter search for an armed suspect in the area, but officials at the Sheriff’s Information Bureau would not immediately confirm the search was related to the fatal shooting.
