The 51st Annual NAACP Image Awards kicked off Black History Month with a bang, hosting it’s nominee luncheon to celebrate those who’ve set the bar high in Black arts and entertainment. The swanky nominee luncheon was held at the W Hotel in Hollywood, where the preceding year’s creatives, actors, writers, producers, directors and the like gathered for a moment to celebrate each other in melanated glory.

“Good Mourning,” is a one-man play that digs into grief, trauma, loss and mental health.
“Gunshot Medley: Part I” is the latest play to hit the stage at the Electric Lodge on Abbot Kinney Boulevard near Venice Beach. Running until August 19, the play tells the story of American history through the eyes of three slaves.

First impression, Walter Mosley, author and consulting producer/writer on FX’s “Snowfall” for the past two seasons, has a distinctive and comforting voice. His cadence reminded me of jazz. He confessed that he doesn’t like his voice suggesting that it’s nothing special. I will agree to disagree.
