Life-changing messages are promised at the “Women of Faith Summer Revival” at Price Chapel AME Church, 4000 West Slauson Avenue in Los Angeles.

The three-night worship experience, presented by the Steward Board, starts Wednesday, June 1, and continues through Friday, June 3. The services start at 7 p.m., followed by a reception on June 3.  The theme is “Spiritual Transformation and Renewal Through God’s Holy Word” based on Romans 12:2.

“I encourage the greater Los Angeles community to join us and hear the word of God delivered with power by our guest revivalists, Pastor Mary S. Minor of Brookins-Kirkland Community AME Church, Pastor Carolyn Baskin-Bell of Second AME Church and Pastor Francine Brookins of Bethel AME – Fontana,” said Price Chapel Pastor Benjamin Hollins.

“Their sermons will outline how you can be changed through God’s word to live victorious in the Lord.”

The Rev. Dr. Minor will preach on Wednesday. Ordained an AME itinerant elder in 2000, she headed three congregations in Southern California before her appointment to Brookins-Kirkland AME Church in November 2015. Her education includes a Bachelor’s degree from the University of LaVerne, a Master of Arts degree from Claremont School of Theology, a Master of Business Administration from the University of Phoenix and a Doctor of Ministry degree from United Theological Seminary.

The Rev. Baskin-Bell, who will bring the message on Thursday, accepted the call to preach in 1996. Following her ordination as an AME itinerant elder in 2001, she served several years on the ministerial staff at Grant AME – L.A. In 2006, Baskin-Bell founded the Rose of Sharon AME Church in Norwalk and served as pastor until 2015. She earned two Masters of Arts degrees in communication disorders and school management and a Masters of Divinity degree from Claremont School of Theology.

The Rev. Dr. Brookins will deliver the sermon on Friday. In 2002, she was ordained an AME itinerant elder as well as received her Master’s of Divinity degree from Pacific School of Religion. Previously, she earned her B.A. from Georgetown University and a Juris Doctor (J.D.) from George Washington National Law Center.  Prior to her current assignment, Brookins served four years as pastor of Wright Chapel AME. She is also the Fifth District’s standard-bearer 2016 candidate for bishop in the AME Church.
