The Mary M. Kidd Women’s Missionary Society of Brookins-Kirkland Community AME Church will hold its Annual Day Worship Service on Sunday, June 25, at 9 a.m., in the sanctuary located at 3719 West Slauson Avenue in Los Angeles.

The theme is “Be Joyful in Hope” based on Romans 12:2, said the Rev. Dr. Mary S. Minor, senior pastor.  She added that the Rev. Judi Wortham will be the guest preacher.

Rev. Wortham is an associate minister at First AME Church of Los Angeles led by Pastor J. Edgar Boyd.  She also serves as the president/coordinator of the Southern California Conference Women in Ministry.

Audrey Fletcher is the president of the Brookins-Kirkland WMS and Dorothea Young, 1st vice president, is the program chairperson.  Other WMS members will also participate in the worship service.

The Brookins-Kirkland WMS has a long history of providing outreach services to the South L.A. community. The organization’s ongoing activities include distributing food baskets and gift cards to people in need, offering scholarships and financial aid to graduating students, and organizing clothing drives to assist clients of local shelters.  The group also conducts regular visits to South L.A. senior centers and facilities to uplift the residents.
