Orleans and York is all about bringing Southern California the best of the best food from both New Orleans and New York.
They were able to do just that when the participated in last years’ Taste of Soul, the first festival the deli ever participated in.
“Last years’ Taste of Soul was really cool because we got a lot of different people that came out that didn’t know about us, so it was good exposure,” said co sibling owner Jasmine Othman.
Orleans and York deli is a family owned business ran by siblings. The deli name was inspired by the sibling’s parents who happen to be from the east coast.
“We have always loved Cajun and creole food and we have always cooked it at home. My dad has always had delis his whole life. To put the combination of the two sets us apart from any other deli establishment,” Othman said.
Othman and her brother run the deli at the Inglewood location, which opened a year and a half ago. Othman’s other siblings run the Slauson location.
The family will open its fourth location in Carson at the end of August.
The most popular items on the menu that keep the customers coming back for more are the Big Mo po’boy, a New Orleans style po’boy made of shrimp and hotlinks, and the Gumbo Mumbo, which consists of chicken, shrimp, hotlinks, bell peppers, and onions over a bed of rice.
But the family is bringing more than great tasting recipes to residents, they’re also brought a little R-E-S-P-E-C-T.
“The greatest experienced I have at Orleans and York is the level of service and respect. Every customer that walks through the door receives the same level of respect and service. If you want a good business, and you want to build a good business, its starts with service and the respect is just added on to it,” said pastor LeRoy Matthews Jr.
The family is hoping to continue participating in the festival that helped to expose them by participating in this years’ Taste of Soul.
“We are looking forward to all the different types of people coming in that don’t know about us, we will be doing sample so that way everybody gets a taste of what’s going on at Orleans and York,” Othman said.
