As part of its long tradition of sharing much-needed resources with the community, the 10th Council District Women’s Steering Committee will hold their annual Health and Wellness Seminar on Friday, October 20, from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m., at the Department of Water and Power Community Center, 4030 Crenshaw Blvd., in Los Angeles.
Dr. Jeshana Avent-Johnson, the founder of the Intimacy Seminars and Psychological Services, will be the keynote speaker, according to WSC president Jacqueline Nunn. Also, Shirley Owens, the 85-year-old owner of two assisted living homes for elderly women, will make a presentation.

“Women and men of all ages will benefit from hearing the information shared by our speakers. Dr. Avent-Johnson’s credentials include being a licensed clinical psychologist, certified clinical trauma professional, and certified trauma yoga instructor and professor,” said Nunn who added that Avent-Johnson also hosts “Let’s Get Intimate” on KBLA 1580 Talk Radio.
“Ms. Owens, who will soon open a new facility in Ladera Heights, will share insight on programs offered at her assisted living homes to aid mature women suffering from illness and lacking family members to assist with their care. The topics our speakers will cover will address critical situations that many individuals and families face.”
