Today, Congresswoman Maxine Waters (D-CA), Chairwoman of the House Committee on Financial Services, announced the enactment of a government funding package that includes $13,153,127 in Community Project Funding that she secured for the 43rd district of California. This funding responds directly to some of the most pressing needs in the district. The bill was signed into law by President Biden on March 15th after passing the House of Representatives on March 9th – with Congresswoman Waters’ vote – and passing the Senate the following day.
“I am incredibly pleased to have secured $13,153,127 in Community Project Funding in this bill that I know will have a profound impact on my district,” Congresswoman Waters said. “These investments support working families, help underserved areas, and foster economic development, making a real difference in the lives of so many in our diverse community. I am proud to have fought for funding that will make our community healthier, stronger, and more resilient.”
Congresswoman Waters championed funding for 10 projects that will directly benefit residents throughout the 43rd district. These include:
§ $235,127 for the Veterans of Foreign Wars Post 2075 Rehabilitation Project, Hawthorne, CA.
§ $350,000 for the El Camino College student support services project, Torrance, CA.
§ $500,000 for the Hawthorne Affordable Housing Improvements Project, Hawthorne, CA.
§ $500,000 for the South Bay Workforce Investment Board for workforce development activities, Hawthorne, CA.
§ $938,000 for the Torrance Airport Storm Water Basin Project, Torrance, CA.
§ $940,000 for the Lomita Water System Improvements Project, Lomita, CA.
§ $1,400,000 for the Gardena Community Aquatic & Senior Center, Gardena, CA.
§ $1,500,000 for the Los Angeles Southwest College student support services project, Los Angeles, CA.
§ $3,000,000 for the Downtown Inglewood Revitalization Project, Inglewood, CA.
§ $3,790,000 for the North Gardena Recycled Water Lateral Project, Gardena, CA.
The government funding package will help middle class families with the cost of living, create American jobs, support the vulnerable, and help small businesses that are key to our economic future. Taken together, the funding for the 43rd district and the funding for critical government programs throughout the United States will reverse decades of disinvestment in our communities and strengthen our nation.
