The members of Lewis Metropolitan CME Church will observe 75 years of Christian and community service during their diamond anniversary service on Sunday, January 23, at 10:30 a.m.
The worship will take place in the Lewis Metropolitan edifice located at 4900 S. Western Avenue in Los Angeles. The Rev. Travis Morris is the host pastor.
Joining the celebration will be the Rev. Adam D. Stevenson, pastor of the Warren Chapel CME Church in San Pedro. He will preach the sermon at the morning service.
Known in the church and community as Pastor Adam, Stevenson was born in San Pedro and received his spiritual upbringing at Warren Chapel. A veteran of the U.S. Navy, he also worked for the Department of Veteran Affairs and the Department of Justice.
In the area of community service, Stevenson is a member of the L.A. Department of Mental Health’s Clergy Roundtable and mentors young men with the San Pedro Boys and Girls Club. Previously, he volunteered with the Angel Tree Prison Fellowship and as a reentry facilitator for formerly incarcerated individuals.
