The members of historic Macedonia Baptist Church will salute the Rev. Shane B. Scott’s seventh anniversary as pastor on Sunday, March 3, at 10 a.m., in the church’s sanctuary located at 1751 East 114th St., in Los Angeles.

The theme is “Willing and Eager Shepherd” and the guest preacher will be the Rev. Dr. Freddy J. Clark, pastor and founder of Shalom Church (City of Peace) in Florissant, Missouri.

Macedonia Baptist, the oldest African American church in the Watts community, was organized in 1908. Scott has began as the spiritual leader in November 2011 and was officially installed as pastor in March 2012.

During his tenure, the Macedonia Community Development Corporation (MCDC) was established and sponsors several outreach programs such as the Healthy Watts 5K Run and Community Walk, the Business Resource Center and Incubator, HomeBuying@MacedoniaCDC and Jobs@MacedoniaCDC.

Prior to Macedonia, Scott served as senior pastor of St. Rest Baptist Church in Fresno and as youth and young adult minister at Friendship Baptist Church in Vallejo. A graduate of Stillman College, he earned both his bachelor’s and Master of Divinity degrees at American Baptist Seminary of the West.

Clark is renowned for his preaching, teaching, and praying ministry at Shalom Church, which has grown from 15 members at its founding in 1993 to more than 5,000 people and multiple outreach ministries. He also serves on the Christian Hospital board of directors and as an advisory board member for Clear Channel Communications, Inc.  A graduate of Bishop College in Dallas, Texas, Clark received his a Master of Divinity and a Doctor of Ministry from Eden Theological Seminary.
