To commemorate 115 years of dedicated service and commitment to justice in the Watts Community and surrounding areas, Macedonia Baptist Church will host the Macedonia Legacy Luncheon on Saturday, October 7, from 11 a.m. to 2 p.m., at City Club LA.

The Fall into Wellness Family Health Fair, aiming to address economic, health, and social disparities in the Watts community, will take place on Saturday, Oct. 22, from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m., at Macedonia Baptist Church, 1751 E. 114th Street, in Los Angeles. Free immunizations and health screenings will be available along with food, music and other resources. Community and hospital volunteers will staff booths featuring art and educational activities for children, first aid training, and job opportunities for adults. Investments are coming to South L.A. from “Build Back Better,” the Olympics, and other construction projects in the region. Macedonia Community Development Corporation announced a $150,000 grant from the Amgen Foundation on Jan. 26, to support its Watts Entrepreneur Business Accelerator (WEBA) program.
