Thirty L.A.-area churches will host the 7th Annual Walgreens-sponsored First Ladies Health Day on Sunday, April 8.
During the event, each church converts into a “mini clinic” to offer free health screenings to individuals and families to address preventative illnesses, which disproportionately affect African Americans and Hispanics.
Also, healthcare partners will provide medical advice and counseling, as well as screenings for hypertension, HIV/AIDS, Hepatitis C, glucose, diabetes, cardiovascular disease, obesity and certain forms of cancer.
Participating health partners and volunteers for First Ladies Health Day include Walgreens pharmacists, AltaMed, the Alzheimer’s Association, the American Diabetes Association, CareMore, Cedars-Sinai, City of Hope, Pfizer, Gilead and Susan G. Komen®.
