Taste of Soul is the largest street festival in his district and the Supervisor now joins the list of host chair-persons and celebrities to make it the best yet.

The making of the sixth annual Taste of Soul is in full swing and the crowd is expected to top last year’s.  With that kind of anticipation and build-up, it is appropriate that those who are sponsoring/hosting the event are highlighted as part of the build-up.  Along with Danny J. Bakewell, Sr. the creator, and the previously-named host-chairpersons and chairpersons, the Sentinel is pleased to add Supervisor Mark Ridley-Thomas to the list of host chairpersons.

Over the years, the supervisor has been an avid supporter of the Taste of Soul notwithstanding, it happens in his supervisorial district two.  There will be entertainers, vendors, businesses all coming together with one thing in common: to share a fun-filled day with the community.

In addition to the Sentinel, Mothers-In -Action, the city of Los Angeles, Radio Free KJLH and 94.7 the Wave, GM’s Chevrolet and Hill & Knowlton are scheduled to be presenting partners at the Taste of Soul.

Also attending will be Sheryl Lee Ralph and Florence LaRue, from whom much can be expected. Lee, an internationally recognized movie star and humanitarian said, “I am so happy and honored to be a part of this year’s ‘Taste of Soul.’ I hope that you will join me at the best and largest block party in Los Angeles. Look for ‘The DIVA Foundation booth’.” And La Rue, an original member of the fabulous Fifth Dimension stated, “I give my best to whatever I am involved with,” explained the six-time GRAMMY winning star.

The safety and security measures will be managed by the Los Angeles Police Department, the Los Angeles Fire Department, paramedics, mobile health and emergency units.  But the greatest security will be the community and their families who will be enjoying the event in a peaceful and joyous atmosphere.

SEE YOU AT TASTE OF SOUL!
