Trinity Holds Successful Blanket Drive for Homeless

For the 11th consecutive year, the Homeless Ministry of Trinity Baptist Church conducted a successful Blanket Drive to aid homeless men, women and children living on L.A.’s skid row. According to Pastor Alvin Tunstill, Jr., and homeless activist Brian Ferguson, Trinity congregants and community members donated more than 400 new blankets and pillows during the annual event held on Dec. 15. Memorial Planned for Dr. Harriette F. Williams

Dr. Harriette F. Williams, a notable Los Angeles educator and community leader, passed away at her home on July 28. She was 88-years-old. A self-described “happy volunteer,” Harriette was acclaimed for her distinguished 40-year career at LAUSD, her dedicated service in numerous civic organizations, and unwavering faith as illustrated by her six-decade membership at Trinity Baptist Church. A memorial service will be held on Saturday, September 1, at 11 a.m., at Trinity Baptist, 2040 West Jefferson Blvd., in Los Angeles. Legendary radio announcer John Phillips celebrates his 96th birthday on April 26. Now on the air for 71 years, Phillips’ broadcast can heard on ktymgospel.net on Saturdays at 8 a.m. and Sundays at 4 p.m.   Phillips, a World War II veteran, is a member of Trinity Baptist Church in Los Angeles.

Trinity Sponsors 10th Annual Blanket Drive for Homeless

Aiming to assist people in need, the Homeless Ministry of Trinity Baptist Church will sponsor their 10th Annual Blanket Drive on Saturday, December 16. After a yearlong celebration, Trinity Baptist Church plans to conclude their 100th anniversary observance with a gala banquet and closing worship service. The members of Trinity Baptist Church will welcome their former pastor, Dr. Dumas Alexander Harshaw, Jr., as the guest preacher on Sunday, October 22, at 10:30 a.m., at the edifice located at 2040 W. Multiple events are planned this year as Trinity Baptist Church observes a century of Christian and community service in the city of Los Angeles.
