Aiming to assist people in need, the Homeless Ministry of Trinity Baptist Church will sponsor their 10th Annual Blanket Drive on Saturday, December 16.

Donations of full, king and queen blankets along with pillows will be accepted from 10 a.m. to 4:30 p.m., in the church’s garage parking lot at 2040 West Jefferson Boulevard in Los Angeles.

“We invite people throughout metropolitan area to contribute to this worthy cause to help the homeless,” said Pastor Alvin Tunstill, Jr. “Our theme is ‘Be a Blessing to Others’ based on Genesis 12:2 and as in past years, Brother Brian Ferguson is heading up our campaign.”

Ferguson, who has been a homeless advocate for 22 years, said, “We accept donations all year long but as the weather turns cold, the gift of warm blankets and pillows is especially needed.

“Of course, our main goal is to introduce people to Christ in the hope that they will accept Him as their Savior.   The blankets pave the way to opening hearts and minds, but the word of God never fades away.”

In support of his ministry, Ferguson has run in more than 50 marathons with all proceeds going to the homeless. He also participates in foot washing and pedicures , organizing meals  and distributing toiletries and grooming for the homeless.

The ministry also provides  hygiene bags, hand warmers and tarps. In addition, Word of Life Christian Bookstore is donating two boxes of socks.
