Why I Want You to Get the Covid Vaccine Now

If we don’t get vaccinated, I foresee repeat cycles of preventable deaths, business and school closures, and potentially even more dangerous variants of the virus in our future. Unfortunately, black and brown communities that have been the hardest hit by Covid are now lagging behind in taking advantage of the amazing science that led to our Covid vaccines.

In its journey to Super Bowl LVI, the Los Angeles Super Bowl Host Committee has selected PVJOBS as part of the official Super Bowl LVI Legacy Program – Champions Live Here. PVJOBS is among a total of 56 local “Champion” organizations that were designated for the Super Bowl LVI Legacy Program. These “Champion” organizations will receive grants and marketing recognition to support their work that represent diverse focus areas, including youth engagement, workforce development and social justice across the Los Angeles region.

Project 43 Team Post Center Opens in South L.A.

 A huge crowd turned out for the grand opening of Project 43 Team Post Center on 68th Street and Crenshaw Blvd in South Los Angeles. The event, held July 10, offered food, music and opportunities for the surrounding neighborhood and local businesses.

L.A. Care Health Plan Commits $5 Million to a New Medical Degree Program at Charles R. Drew University of Medicine and Science

This new grant is a continuation of L.A. Care’s partnership with CDU through the Elevating the Safety Net initiative. With more than $8.4 million in funding from our initiative, CDU has awarded full scholarships to 16 medical students and has funded residents and faculty salaries while expanding its Family Medicine and Internal Medicine Residency Programs.

Martin Luther King, Jr. Community Hospital Receives $500,000 BOFA Grant to Train and Hire More Healthcare Professionals in South L.A.
