A Lynwood man was sentenced today to 20 years behind bars for running a crew that committed 15 armed robberies of independent, mom-and-pop pharmacies across Southern California, with the intent of illegally selling the stolen prescription medication. Tyrome “Boobie” Lewis, 26, was found guilty in June of all eight felony charges he faced. Lewis has been in federal custody since his arrest in July 2019, according to the U.S. Attorney’s Office.
A man was shot to death Sunday night as he stood in front of a house in the Green Meadows area of South Los Angeles. The shooting was reported about 8:35 p.m. at 823 E. 116th St., according to a desk officer at the Los Angeles Police Department’s Operations Center. The 39-year-old victim was pronounced dead at the scene, she said. A suspect of unknown description approached the man and fired shots at him before fleeing the scene, the officer said. The shooting was believed gang related, she said
