Our future VP is who she is and where she is because she is driven in her quest for freedom, justice and equality and she is loyal. Senator Harris at times will stop what’s she’s doing to answer a call. I have known California’s first African American woman District Attorney and first African American Attorney General Harris to be this way for her 18-year political career. To make it plain: She is “Kamala Harris For the People.”

Shirley Chisholm’s Historic Legacy Broke the Glass Ceiling for African American Women in Politics  

Today, African American women are leading the country as mayors, senators, congresswomen, state legislatures, and lawmakers. However it was Shirley Anita St. Hill Chisholm, who is known for breaking the glass ceiling for African American women in politics. This Black History Month, the Los Angeles Sentinel looks back on the life of Chisholm and her political leadership.   

Sen. Kamala Harris Officially Enters the 2020 Presidential Race with Bold Morality

A graduate of Howard University and a member of the AKA sorority, Harris’ rollout has been the most methodically of anyone who has entered the 2020 sweepstakes. Right down to the typography and campaign slogans, which are in the style of the historic 1970s campaign of the first Black woman ever elected to Congress, Shirley Chisholm, Sen. Harris’ rollout has reached for clarity.

BET’s evolution also included the launch of its website, BET.com, and the launch of the network’s sister channel, BET Her, the first network designed to target African-American women. Lee acquired the television rights to the annual award show Black Girls Rock! and continued to elevate the prominence and prestige of the BET Awards. Lee recently launched Leading Women Defined, an annual gathering of thought leaders that convenes notable African-American woman, including former First Lady Michelle Obama, Venus Williams and Issa Rae, to discuss issues that have a direct impact on the Black community.
