Metro to Hold Four Community Meetings to Evaluate Routes for Northern Extension of the Crenshaw/LAX Line

The Los Angeles County Metropolitan Transportation Authority (Metro) is holding four community meetings in March to evaluate alternatives to extend the Crenshaw/LAX Line to the north with connections to the Metro Expo, Purple and Red Lines as well as numerous bus lines. The public is encouraged to attend and participate in the planning of this important transit project.

Crenshaw Is Now Open, Crenshaw Line Expected to be Completed in 2020

After 4 years of patience, alternative routes and waiting Crenshaw Blvd is back open for traffic, while construction continues. Metro broke ground on the Crenshaw line in early 2014, and at the time had forecast it to open in Fall 2019. For the past few years, Metro staff have been reporting that Crenshaw has been 80 or 100 or 120 days behind schedule, and the agency has dipped into contingency funds to try to stem schedule creep. As recently as September, Metro construction staff reported that the project was approximately five months behind, but declined to state a projected completion date. Taste of Soul Remembers Kids with This Year’s Children’s World

Since its inception, Children’s World has been a part of the Taste of Soul, now thirteen years strong as the Los Angeles’ largest family oriented street festival. Of course there can be no family event without something for the children and TOS officials aim to make this part better every year. This year, participants included Disney’s new “Nutcracker” movie reps, with a photo booth for the kids, chesstutors.com and Vision to Learn, offering free eye exams.
