Man who drove truck onto sidewalk gets beaten, dies near LA

A man died after he tried to hit people on a sidewalk with his truck, crashed against a building and then was pulled out and beaten by the group in Southern California, authorities said.

The man was asked to leave a business in Hawthorne early Saturday and then argued with someone while walking to his truck, said Lt. Hugo Reynaga of the Los Angeles County Sheriff’s Department.

Leader of Pharmacy Robbery Crew Sentenced to Prison

A Lynwood man was sentenced today to 20 years behind bars for running a crew that committed 15 armed robberies of independent, mom-and-pop pharmacies across Southern California, with the intent of illegally selling the stolen prescription medication. Tyrome “Boobie” Lewis, 26, was found guilty in June of all eight felony charges he faced. Lewis has been in federal custody since his arrest in July 2019, according to the U.S. Attorney’s Office.

Man Killed in Compton Shooting ID’d

  Deputies were sent to Gateway Drive and Greenleaf Boulevard regarding
an assault with a deadly weapon at about 3 a.m. Saturday, and found Wilder-
Jackson suffering from multiple gunshot wounds to the upper body, according to
the Los Angeles County Sheriff’s Department. He was pronounced dead at the
