As the 54th District assemblymember, Bryan will represent the neighborhoods of Baldwin Hills, Cheviot Hills, Crenshaw, Century City, Culver City, Ladera Heights, Mar Vista, Palms, Rancho Park, Westwood and sections of South Los Angeles and Inglewood.

Heather Hutt was born and raised in Los Angeles and has dedicated her life to Democratic activism, public service, and the community. Heather recently served as the first Black U.S. Senate State Director in California’s history, and in her capacity serving Senator Harris, was the principal representative among constituents and elected leaders throughout California. She used her position to stand up for women by bringing together healthcare professionals to discuss implicit bias in health care, especially for women and women of color as well as advocating for DACA recipients and fighting against the Trump Administration’s assault on Dreamers and immigrants.

Asm. Sydney Kamlager-Dove Pushing Law to End “Slavery” in California’s Prisons

For 24 years now, Samual Brown – who was convicted for attempted murder in Sacramento – has been serving time in California state prisons. Right now, he is at a correctional facility in Lancaster, a Los Angeles County town northeast of L.A.  While in prison, Brown says he has evolved. In addition to earning an associate degree, Brown will be awarded his B.A. from CSU Los Angeles in the Spring, graduating with a 4.0 GPA.

About A Dozen Protesters Arrested in Beverly Hills

About a dozen protesters were arrested tonight for failure to disperse, and at least one person for alleged “assault on a police officer” during a demonstration organized by the Black Future Project in Beverly Hills.

Assemblymember Sydney Kamlager-Dove’s Bill to Protect Children with Autism Moves Ahead in the State Legislature with Bipartisan Support

Assemblymember Sydney Kamlager-Dove’s (D-Los Angeles) bill, AB 189 (Kamlager-Dove) that would designate autism professionals as mandated reporters passed the Assembly Public Safety Committee  with unanimous support. The bill now heads to the Appropriations Committee. AB 189 clarifies that all Qualified Autism Service Practitioners (QASPs) are considered mandated reporters under the Child Abuse and Neglect Reporting Act (CANRA). Mandated reporters are people who are required by law to report known or suspected child maltreatment.

Missing Boys from Ladera Heights Found with Grandmother from Phoenix

Phoenix police said Milner was arrested on a Los Angeles County report that she had failed to return her 2- and 4-year-old boys from a planned unsupervised visit that had been scheduled to end at 4 p.m. Friday in Ladera Heights. She was arrested on suspicion of child abduction and violation of court order, Alexander said.
