Kamala Harris

THE ELECTION OF OUR LIFE

Noted activist, playwright and novelist, James Baldwin, wrote “Not everything that is faced can be changed, but nothing can be changed until it is faced.”  His words are as relevant today as they were when Baldwin first wrote them.

The Democratic and Republican Conventions have always been a sight to behold. Most of us wait in anticipation over all the fanfare and excitement that happens when they occur.  Every four years, leaders and party supporters come together to rally around their chosen candidate and to help the voters get to know a little more about the candidates and their families. The pandemic has made all of us adjust to a new way of doing things and this even includes political conventions.  Everything has gone virtual.   Or at least we are told that is how things should be; but there will always be those that do not follow the rules.

She Will Answer

Our future VP is who she is and where she is because she is driven in her quest for freedom, justice and equality and she is loyal. Senator Harris at times will stop what’s she’s doing to answer a call. I have known California’s first African American woman District Attorney and first African American Attorney General Harris to be this way for her 18-year political career. To make it plain: She is “Kamala Harris For the People.”

Democrats must ace the agenda test

In last week’s Democratic National Convention, Joe Biden and Kamala Harris passed the character test. Now as Trump rolls out his virtual convention, they must ace the agenda test. They need to argue the case for the bold agenda that this country desperately needs, and challenge Trump for his policy failures.

Senator Kamala Harris Formally Accepts Vice President of the United States Nomination

Senator Kamala Harris accepted the nomination for Vice President of the United States, she stated, “I do so, committed to the values she taught me. To the word that teaches me to walk by faith, and not by sight. And to a vision passed on through generations of Americans—one that Joe Biden shares. A vision of our nation as a Beloved Community—where all are welcome, no matter what we look like, where we come from, or who we love.”

KAMALA HARRIS’ FULL REMARKS AT THE 2020 DEMOCRATIC NATIONAL CONVENTION

Greetings America.

It is truly an honor to be speaking with you.

That I am here tonight is a testament to the dedication of generations before me. Women and men who believed so fiercely in the promise of equality, liberty, and justice for all.

This week marks the 100th anniversary of the passage of the 19th amendment. And we celebrate the women who fought for that right.

Yet so many of the Black women who helped secure that victory were still prohibited from voting, long after its ratification.

California’s Political Leaders Praise Biden’s Selection of U.S. Sen. Kamala Harris as Running Mate

“Harris selection makes me so optimistic. I am thrilled about the conversations Senator Harris will be having with Americans all around the country over the next 83 days until the presidential election,” said Malia Cohen, a member of California’s Board of Equalization and the highest ranking African American woman constitutional officer in the state.

DEAR MR. BIDEN: NO BLACK WOMAN V.P., NO BLACK VOTE

For the past several weeks living rooms, barber shops, zoom calls and social media have been bombarded with polls, debates and even arguments, all asking the questions “Who Is The Best Choice For Vice President?” The selections may vary drastically depending on what part of the country you live in, whether you consider yourself a “liberal” or a “progressive”? But whomever you decide on that Vice Presidential Running Mate MUST BE AN AFRICAN AMERICAN WOMEN. Whether it be Senator Kamala Harris, Congresswoman Karen Bass, Former U.S. National Security Advisor Susan Rice, Former Georgia State Representative Stacey Abrams, Atlanta Mayor Keisha Lance Bottoms or Florida Congresswoman Val Demings? One thing is for certain if Vice President Biden expects to secure the Black vote one of these women must be his running mate.
